On 17th July, we are organising half-day excursions around Swansea. All departures will be from the conference hall, in Bay Campus at 1:45pm. We will be back at 6pm, in time to get ready for the Gala Dinner. Do not miss this great day out! We provide 4 excursion options, some of which have a limited number of places available.

1- THREE CLIFFS BAY

Three Cliffs Bay is an amazing sandy beach on the Gower Peninsula, set against three limestone cliffs and offering a spectacular coastline of sand dunes, salt marshes and inlaid rock pools. With its different appearances depending on the tide, it’s a perfect place to take a stroll, admire the local flora/fauna and enjoy the sea.

What would we do during the excursion?

  • Hike/walk to reach the bay (1 hour)
  • Enjoy the beach
  • Have a look to Pennard castle ruins
  • Birding

2- PENDERYN SWANSEA COPPERWORKS DISTILLERY

Penderyn Distillery is the home of Welsh Whisky and is located in Swansea! If you want to know more about the recipe of this famous Whisky, this excursion is for you (and also if you want to taste it…). With the Distillery Tour, you will learn the founding of Penderyn, how an award-winning whisky is made, and what makes Penderyn Single Malt Welsh Whisky so unique.

  • Drink at the Whisky Tasting Bar

3- SURF LESSON

Surf is a very popular activity around Swansea Bay. If it can be rough in winter, surfing the waves of the Gower Peninsula in summer, under an amazing sun, is one of the pleasures you should not miss! We are organizing a 2-hour Surf Session, with great instructors from the Surf Progress School. All material (surfboard and wetsuit) will be provided, you just have to enjoy and learn new surf skills. The lesson will take place in Caswell Bay, which is also one of the most beautiful sand beach of Gower.

  • Surf lesson (2 hours)
  • Enjoy Caswell Beach

4- MUMBLES AND OYSTERMOUTH CASTLE

On Swansea Bay, Mumbles marks the start of the Gower Peninsula coastline. It’s a popular part of Swansea, famous for its seafront and ice cream. It is here, on a hilltop with fabulous sea views, that we will visit Oystermouth Castle (12th century). This excursion includes both the visit of the Oystermouth Castle and Mumbles. There are plenty of things to see in Mumbles, including the Pier, the Lighthouse and the shops.
